I’m pretty sure you were alive when he died, since you’re a couple of years older than my oldest, who I know was around back then. You were mighty little, though.
It’s odd how I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news that he died; kind of like when Kennedy was shot or the space shuttle blew up. It was one of those major tragedy days.
Yeah, I remember, too. My mother was probably the biggest Elvis fan. I grew up with his records playing in the house. I still know the lyrics to every one of his songs. They come flooding back to me.
On the day that he died, my husband and I (we weren’t married yet) were on our way to see my mother. As we pulled up in front of her house, the news bulletin came on over the radio. I couldn’t believe it. I went inside my mom’s house with tears in my eyes and told her. She hadn’t heard the news yet.

You probably weren’t born yet, but I remember when Elvis died. There was mass mourning everywhere, even where I lived in the Tundra.

It all went down hill from there.

I was alive when Elvis died although I wasn’t out of diapers. My Mom loved Elvis and Patsy Cline. She always mourned their losses.

I was at babysitting up the road from my house. It was the fastest I ever got those kids to move.
